Welcome to the Ama Foundation!

The Ama Foundation is a grassroots US-based non-profit organization dedicated to providing the most underprivileged children of Nepal with a loving home, education, and opportunities to live healthy and secure lives within their community.   We are investing in the future of Nepal by educating the mothers and fathers, teachers, business leaders, social workers and professionals of the next generation.

What We Do:

• Provide a Safe and Loving  Home   At Ama Ghar, our "Motherly Home" in Kathmandu, the children are truly part of a family.  A small staff to child ratio,  counseling, play time,  trips and outings- all of these things reflect  the abiding care and respect for the child's whole development.
• Educate and Empower Children   Education is the key to the door of possibilities and sustainable, long term change.   Our first Ama Ghar graduates have attended nursing and medical schools with the generous help of our partnership with the Bo M. Karlsson Foundation. 
• Create a Network of Community and Caring  The Ama Foundation intends on investing in partnerships with the communities we serve, building a network of social services around the new Ama Ghar.  This includes current projects such as our community scholarship program, as well as new projects such as a community library, adult education, and vocational training.
